![]() The music is so good! It's beautifully done, and never feels repetitive to me Mind you, I wasn't scared! Just anxious, and that's exactly the spot I think a game like this is aiming for. But they added sounds in this game that really put you on edge - just traveling the ocean in this game made me pretty nervous. As someone with thalassophobia (fear of large or deep water) this was already going to be a little bit jumpy for me as I find ocean sounds already fairly unsettling. Every audial aspect of this game was done perfectly to put you right on the edge of your seat. The sound design on this game is another level. But it also has a story that threads it all together and combined with the atmosphere they manage here, it made this game that much more enjoyable. It's the kind of simple, but rewarding gameplay loop that keeps many of us happily occupied for hours at a time. ![]() You collect different types of fish, and sell them to make money to upgrade your boat. The gameplay loop is very good - you have a boat. Every bit of this game was tinged with the sort of spooky, otherworldly veneer that you expect from the genre. Dredge takes what is - at it's heart - a simple fishing game, and elevates it to something altogether different with it's Lovecraftian stylings. This game appealed to me for that exact reason, and if you're someone who understands and appreciates that distinction this game might appeal to you also. I don't like scary things, but I love spooky things. There are two categories of horror to me - horror that is actually scary, and horror that is spooky. I had a fantastic time with Dredge and here are my thoughts regarding this game if for some reason the Overwhelmingly Positive review score wasn't enough to convince you.
